MAKING YOUR WEBSITE VISABLE IN GOOGLE

One important aspect of a website is its ability to get found by the search engines and this can take time – and in some competitive cases will never get to page 1 without doing what is called search engine optimisation. You can speed this process up and we have included some helpful tips to help try and get your website to page 1. Please note that this is a specialised process but these tips anyone can do. If you would like someone to help, contact us for a referral to a specialist.

SEO TIP 1 - FRESH UNIQUE CONTENT

Have an active website. Search engines love seeing websites change with fresh content. Now your website may have a blog facility on it and if so we recommend posting comments to your blog as often as possible. If you do not have a Blog on your site then don’t worry because the next tip will help your site rise regardless.

SEO TIP 2 - BACKLINKS

Backlinks are links from other websites pointing to yours. Here is a few ways you can get backlinks:

  • Post comments on related blogs and get involved with the online conversation. You will be asked to enter your name and there is also a place to put your website address. Doing this will create a link back to your site.
  • Set up an account on YouTube and post a video to it about your industry.
  • Get active in Social Media, such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, etc. and link back to your site. The more “social conversations” that are happening about your website the better.
  • Update or add your new website address to the free online business directories (see more details below).

TIP: When you link to your website from other websites, use your key phrase domain name if you have one.

SEO TIP 3 - GET TO THE TOP OF GOOGLE FOR FREE

Notice when you’re searching the web that there are quite often listings at the top of the page showing a map and listing associated with that. Well, that’s Google My Business and the good news is it’s FREE. So go along to Google and submit your business profile.

SEO TIP 4 - ADDITIONAL BUSINESS DIRECTORIES

With Google My Business, it is also good to set up other business directory websites such as the 2 following sites. Just make sure you use exactly the information that you used for your Google My Business listing.

There are many more, so you can simply do a search for online business directories as indicated below.

  • Free business link directories
  • Free link directories Gold Coast (or your area)
  • Your profession + free link directory

Again this all helps by creating links back to your website.

If you havent already had your tutorial, the details will be on the way.
